Good morning, everyone,

Since Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory disease, special health measures apply to affected patients to protect them from possible complications following coronavirus infection.

Beyond general recommendations including containment and barrier gestures, more specific advice on treatments (immunosuppressants, biotherapies, anti-inflammatory drugs, corticosteroids...) and procedures in case of symptoms have been given.

Don't hesitate to read the Carenity article on Coronavirus and Chronic Illness, as well as to consult the Crohn's and Colitis UK website which gives you access to updated and specialised recommendations!

Please don't hesitate also to share your advice, experiences, or just how you're feeling down below! I think it is important that we support one another through this difficult time. Self-isolation is an ordeal for everyone, but particularly for those who are single or who are struggling with illness. But this is why our caring Carenity community is here - to listen and support its members!

@Courtney_J Thank you for this. I received a letter from the NHS informing that I should isolate for 12 weeks (I'm assuming for my Imuran), so I've been doing that. Trying to keep my spirits up, but it's difficult being cooped up indoors. I'll keep an eye on the Crohn's and Colitis site, the NHS site gives me a headache, there's just too much information on it.

@Courtney_J @napoleon Hello to you all, my employer has me off work and I have to admit that before that going to work stressed me a lot, so I'd been having more symptoms and worries. I'm staying at home and I don't want this virus in my daily life. Regarding my treatment, I'm on Stelara and I take vitamins C, D and B12 because I tend to have an iron deficiency. My gastroenterologist is brilliant and really takes the time to explain to me each of my new symptoms.

Wishing you all well, I hope you're taking the time to relax as much as you can, we really deserve it.

Fortunately my health has been great the last 6 months, I am still taking my meds every month, I was advised not to stop.... I've pretty much been on lockdown for 6 weeks now, no one in my circle has contracted the virus, we've been lucky so far..

Hello all, my morale is really not at its best, this lockdown is so long and it depresses me being shut in and far from family and friends. I can't wait for it all to be over, but I know we need to be cautious so there isn't a second wave. I'm won't be getting back to a normal life but at least I will be able to have my children visit me (almost 2 months without seeing them is a very long time). At least a positive point of the new measures they're putting in place is being able to get out and walk a little bit more. I've been going in circles at home and being able to stretch my legs more than once a day is a relief. On the health side, a colleague had the coronavirus but without complications. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that my family will stay safe as things start to go back to normal!

How are you all? Has anyone you know caught the virus?

@Zoe1565 Oh wow that must be a bit scary, the idea of going back to work with someone who's had it. I wonder if there's a risk of him or her transmitting it to you?

I'm doing well considering. I started a new job right before we went into lockdown, so it's been interesting learning the ropes and meeting my colleagues from home office. I also had a flare up towards the beginning (I think from the stress of it all), so that was not fun to manage. At least I was at home for it, though!

I have been on stelara for a year now. Recently I've experienced regular pains in my rectum. The pain is a series of pulses or spasms that last a couple of minutes then pass. Only to reoccur the next day. I also have regular sensations of wanting to wee and only passing a small amount of fluid.
