Good advisor
Hello everyone,

Having type 1 diabetes is a lifelong commitment to monitor your health. What are your thoughts and do you have any worries concerning the diabetes?

All the best,

Do you worry?

No, I don't really worry too much about my diabetes. Well, in the sense that I know that there are things that I can't do, but I don't worry about becoming really sick or dying from this. I have had diabetes for almost my entire life and I am used to it, but I still find it difficult to fit it into my daily life as a student. First of all getting the people around me to understand that I can't do everything they can. I have learnt that others who don't really know diabetes don't understand why I can't be just like them. Especially when it comes to sports and partying (and drinking). It can be a little annoying at times, but I have learned to live with it

Yes! I do worry all the time, maybe not that I am going to die in the moment, but I do worry that I don't do the right things to stay healthy enough. I mean it is something thousands of people live with, nontheless I think it is a hugh handicap sometimes. Specialy for socializing. As TinySun says for sports and partying is not the best option and as people don't see you sick on the outside they sometimes think you are just making excuses. I have also had it for a while now and at first I was really depressed!!!! Now I think it is a bit better, but I had to change a lot of thing in my life. I want to learn to live with it and be more at peace, but I have to be honest it is still a bit hard :S
