Hi @Pippadog
I'm sorry to hear about your recent diagnosis. I think @BAZWHEAT and @Bebbabe53 have also posted about having hydrocephalus. Maybe they have some experiences they would like to share with you.
Take care everyone,
Lizzi

Yes, I had various tests at my hospital, like walking as fast as I can in a straight line, E.E.C. tests, etc. . They then put a one-way valve under the skin top left of my scalp. A tube was then connected to the valve and threaded from valve, down my neck under my skin down to my tummy. Excess fluid from my brain can now flow from valve in head, down tube to my belly, eventually I pee it out. This process regularly makes my stomach swell a little with the excess fluid until it gets absorbed into the bladder. This means that sometimes when I feel the need to pee urgently, I get to the w.c. and it can the take up to a minute or so until I start to pee, sometimes it can be a little pain-full until pee comes out, then it is wonderful, and pain free, but can take quite a long time before bladder is totally emptied. Standing at a public urinal, men come and go, and I am still happily peeing away. So, it is no great problem so long as you make as you endeavour to empty bladder each time before you leave home, and try to use any public toilet that you may see on your travels even though you may not have felt the need. After a time you will get used to this and life will continue almost as normal. I hope that this has been of some help. With best wishes, Barrie
