I use Fentynal patch which isn’t now used in long term pain relief. I have reduced to half the dose that I was originally prescribed. I now seem stuck on my current dose when I try to reduce it further I get a massive flare up. So am remaining on current dose until my pain levels are more manageable.
I also use pregabaline for nerve pain. I take paracetamol every four hours. Co-codomole. Vitamin D and other non pain medications. I have tried turmeric with black pepper but this upsets my stomach. I have a gut problem which is very rare but described as gut MS and over the years I’ve become reactive to some drugs and normal dietary responses. I can’t eat much fibre which is problematic as I’m a vegetarian!! My body also reacted very badly to anti inflammatory drugs that I had been using permanently. These drugs caused me to develop painful ulcers throughout my gut in my stomach the ulcers would cause my lining to melt. The results nearly killed me as I became totally dehydrated which seriously affected my kidneys as they were so dry. Thankfully God had decided that it wasn’t my time yet so after excellent NHS treatment and care 3 weeks later I was finally discharged from hospital. Now I’m not permitted to take anti inflammatory drugs in any form including gels. I am constantly on the lookout for natural anti inflammatory treatments. I’m currently visiting family and when I return I want to try dietary turmeric with black pepper in a golden paste as suggested by @Josephine Who has taught me so much about the benefits of dietary turmeric as apposed to turmeric capsules.

I have it in every joint I have! I’ve had both knees replaced has reduced the pain and mostly stopped them giving way although they still do occasionally. I’ve had the bones at the base of both thumbs removed. I’m on lots of heavy duty pain relief, including fentanyl, morphine, gabapentin, amitriptylene and lidocaine patches, it never gets rid of it but makes it bearable. My pharmacist want to know how I’m up walking about and driving because of the dosage I’m on but when you’ve been in pain for a long time 30+ yrs your body adapts. They only see me on a good day not the days I can’t get out of bed! I have to wear compression socks at night to relieve the pain in my ankles, splints etc. I can’t wear them at night because the right side of my body swells up but nobody knows why! My arm and hand are the most noticeable because they can go up to 4x the size they are they need to give me a titanium skeleton and remove mine!!!😁😁😁

@catafan have you tried electric acupuncture? Not sure what they call it but they put the needles in the usual places then connect a pulsating current through it a bit like a tens machine would but because of the needles the tens reaches deeper, it helped me a lot when I was pregnant and couldn’t take a lot of my medication

I have it diagnosed in feet, hands, knees, I also have gout which causes confusion . Plus residual pain in my shoulders from past bone breaks. Also low back pain from an accident. Keeping active helps within reason but too much and the gout starts. Pain releive is often not the answer I am trying CBD oil but it is early days yet.

Osteoarthritis is the most form of arthritis and it most commonly occurs in the spine, hands, hips, knees and spine.
Where does your osteoarthritis affect you? Is it just one location or several?
Please let us know and share your experiences:)
