Unfortunately I have to say I have OA in both knees, both need replacing but because of other health issues it is not recommended 😢 both hips and both hands all my fingers and thumbs, my shoulders and neck.
Because I am an asthmatic I can't have any anti-inflamitories or Tramadol co-codimol etc but I do have the good old Orimoph and the patches plus paracetamol when needed
After reading some other mail I may look into Termaric, anything is worth a look 😁

It is definitely worth looking into Turmeric Maggie-mae. Please check with your GP first to ensure that it does not contra indicate with other medication you may be having. If you are on any anticoagulant(blood thinners) supplements are not advisable but dieteric turmeric is safe. Good luck.

Hello Sonia
Thanks for your message. Yes, you need to check with your GP because you are on blood thinners. Turmeric in itself is a blood thinner. So you can not combine the two together. How ever Turmeric in diet is perfectly safe. You should avoid supplements, but the dietery Turmeric is very safe. You can make Golden paste and store it in the fridge and have one tea spoon full with warm milk, or you can use Organic tumeric powder, 1 tsp with pinch of black oepper and 2 tsp. of either Olive oil or coconut oil and warm milk. So the turmeric in diet is vsery safe rather than supplements. Have you looked on the website "Turmeric for Health. You can subscribe to it, free of charge and you get informative emails from them on regular basis. There are recipes for making Golden Paste and Turmeric milk. Read up all about it, and make notes of the questions you would like to ask your GP before you go to see him/her. There are cetain medications that can counteract with Turmeric and you are advised to have a 2 hours gap between taking your prescription medication and Turmeric milk or golden paste
Hope this helps. let us know how you get on with it.
Christina. x

I had prolapsed, bulging disc and the pain was excruciating. So I know exactly how you feel. Unfortunately I had to have a Spinal surgery to put the disc back If you can avoild having the surgery please do. Try other methods first. Once you have a spinal surgery, you develop problems with other discs. That is what happened to me and I ended up having 5 Spinal surgeries. So if you can find other means of putting your disc back with massage, Chiropractor or physio, please chose those options to surgery.
Did you have a medical review with DHSS to see if you qualify for early retirement due to ill health? You need support from your GP to qualify you for the benefit. The problem is, bulging disc is treatable. Lots of people have this problem and carry on working. You can get treated by Physiotherapist to put the disc back in place. A good qualified Chiropractor can also push the disc back in its place and after a few weeks of sick period, you are able to return to work. That is the reason you are not given an early retirement package
Regards the benefits you have to contact DHSS. You need to have an appointment with them. They will need to know your social and financial circumstances, eg are you married, do you have a family to support, your savings etc. Only they can advise you on what benefits, if any, you are entitled to.
Hope this helps

Mine is in both feet, knees, hips, shoulders and hands.
Also just been told i have calcified spur in foot and ultrasound last week showing issue in the joint but awaiting phonecall from GP on thursday for results, this maybe related to my hypothyroidism
I was fine before i had chemotherapy in Oct 15 - Mar 16.
stuggling to walk 50 metres and knee keeps giving way :(
I am on Zomorph -12hr slow release morphine after 3 years on Tramadol
gutted i am like this at the age of 53.

@Vivien12 Hi, I don't know is the honest answer, all I know is because of the Asthma, Hypertension, Irritable Bowel and I've had a stroke Paracetamol, the patches and orimorph are the safest pain relief for me. I do use a couple of Tens machines when I want to climb the walls with the pain 😩🤔
I do know over the years a lot of pain relief has badly constipated me or sent me to sleep and I have enough problems with both of that as it is 😏 I know, Termeric has been ruled out because of it being anti inflamitory I'll just carry on as I am.
I will ask about Tramadol and see what he says thanks for the suggestion 😀 x

Osteoarthritis is the most form of arthritis and it most commonly occurs in the spine, hands, hips, knees and spine.
Where does your osteoarthritis affect you? Is it just one location or several?
Please let us know and share your experiences:)
