Hello everyone,

I hope you're doing well. emoticon bashful

As the discussions continue on the end of the COVID-19 lockdown and social distancing measures, you may have some questions about the use of protective face masks.

We've made a little guide to help us all learn how to properly use and wear a mask! Take a look at it below!

Have you been able to obtain any masks for you and your loved ones? Where did you find them? Do you currently or are you planning on using them every time you go out?

Feel free to share with us here! We're here to help on another, especially in this time of public health crisis.

Take care,

Courtney

I have left the house only a handful of times in 16 weeks, mainly because my doctor makes me go and get my INR done every three weeks,I have been using facemasks but find them so hot and it is difficult to breathe in them!

Do you use the ones with a plastic filter attached. You can get them alot cheaper now..If you dont maybe they might be worth trying.Do you wear hats. You can buy hats with a full face soft plastic visor or the same sort of visor you can attach to a hat

Apparently if you wear glasses,if you wash them in soapy water and leave them to dry on there own it can help to stop them steaming up.Dr Hilary just advised. Not sure if it works but will try later

Maybe a visor would be better for you.We are exempt from wearing masks due to our underlying medical issues. We have been on lockdown since March so obviously we cant have covid .People who have not been could have the virus even if they dont know.Alot not even bothered and dont do social distancing etc as we have all witnessed.I will go out to protect myself,to me,just a mask to prevent others catching it is not good enough.I think a visor would be best for our own safety. This is just my opinion and others may think differently.

I went to a Podiatrist this week and queued outside whilst another patient was having her treatment.

Upon entering his practice, I was requested to put on a mask and a pair of gloves. In the treatment room, the podiatrist had a plastic shield up, had a mask on and also blue sanitised gloves. Trying to speak and breathe was another story! Congestion and lack of breath brought me straight into a minor seizure. Trying to concentrate whilst he was talking to me at the same time was difficult and I just couldn't handle the lack of fresh air.

Eventually, after the 30-minute treatment, I walked out and was requested to throw my mask and gloves in a bin outside. Due to the discomfort of wearing a mask, it took me about 10 minutes of just standing quietly before I could get 'my act together!'

Today masks are compulsory on bus and rail transport. If asked why I haven't got one on, my answer will be the same as above; I'm epileptic and need to breathe in the event of a minor or major seizure! Hoping I won't get fined in the process but my personal health condition is more important to me at this stage.

A lot of these comments mirror what I thought, I have asthma and have difficulty breathing wearing one, I went to the doctors for a blood test in April and was required to put on a mask when I was called to go in( supplied by doctors surgery) in total I was in around 15 minutes I was absolutely worn out, I disposed of it as soon as came out in the bin provided and had to use my ventolin inhalor straight away and by the time I got to my car which was only around the corner from the surgery I was totally knackered so I had to sit in the car for 10- 15 minutes to recover enough to drive home and I wasn't very good for the rest of the day. My wife has anxiety issues and is unable to wear one and for all of the lockdown has been unable to come shopping with me, she sits in the car and when I get back to the car she unloads the trolley while I recover as it really wears me out pushing the trolley around the shop and carpark, I don't know if I will be allowed a shield or will be exempt from wearing masks. Take care everyone and stay safe
