I am a bit nervous about getting the vaccine, as its production has been rushed and ideally if more time could be allowed to ensure its safety it would be best, but we have no choice as we are in the middle of a pandemic, which is very contagious and it is a serious illness, which can affect the lungs, heart etc.. I read that 2 health workers in U.K had adverse effects when they received the vaccine, while in the U.S. a nurse got seriously ill and reportedly died. I think there should be open discussion about serious effects of vaccination on some persons. There are reports that the vaccine alters our DNA The government should talk about any concerns people have and the vaccine programme should be transparent and open to all.
I am aged 77 so I think I should get vaccinated if I am offered, as I am in the highly vulnerable group and having the vaccination would give me more freedom to visit stores, etc as we are all worn out from the lockdown since March 2020.

People say the vaccine has been rushed but it has been worked on 24/7 all other vaccines are developed over time. If you calculate the hours there is probably not much difference. We have the option to have it or not, at the moment but it could become compulsory.

2 people had temporary adverse reactions but are now fully recovered, out of about 45,000 people who trialled the vaccinations months ago. Meanwhile around 74,000 people in the UK have died from Covid_19.
I think it is therefore obviously reasonable to say that the threat from Covid is massively bigger than any possible threat from the vaccines - anyone scared of getting vaccinated needs to do the maths, which is pretty basic and stark!

My husband was called up for the vaccine on 22nd Dec. He had a Pfizer vaccine and is absolutely fine. He has the second dose scheduled for 13th Jan. I am 76 and should be in the next group of people called. I am ready and waiting. We might not have a choice as to which vaccine we would like, as it would depend on which facility you go for the vaccine. It would have to be whatever they have at that facility. As my husband had a Pfizer one and he is fine, I would like to have the same if possible.

I will not be getting a vaccine that’s rushed through and the people who make it have a “no liability” clause in their contract.
if we end up getting ill from it then they will not be held accountable.
also it’s not technically a “vaccine” under the general definition of “vaccine”.

I can't wait for the vaccine.

I am definitely going to have the vaccine when I can. Unfortunately multiple allergies mean that I couldn't have the Pfizer one, so waiting for the Oxford one.
As someone who is shielding due to being CEV, I think it is important.
I am a nurse, so should be on the front line working with my amazing colleagues, without the vaccine I can't see me being back any time soon.

Hello everyone,
How are you today?
The pharmaceutical groups Pfizer (USA) and BioNTech (Germany) announced on Monday 9 November that their vaccine candidate is 90% "effective" in preventing Covid-19 infections, according to preliminary results of their large-scale phase 3 trial, which is still ongoing.
What do you think about this? Do you plan to be vaccinated as soon as the COVID-19 vaccine is on the market?
Feel free to discuss and share in the comments below!
Take care,
Courtney
