I would like to ask for help as I'm trying to understand my boyfriends condition. He suffers from severe depression and anxiety and last weekend was a year since something nasty happened in his life. For the last 2 weeks he has been feeling anxious due to the anniversary, and been pushing me away, I stupidly saw this as not wanting to be with me, and my insecurities came into play, almost destroying us. My boyfriend has now taken a few steps back, rather than forward and wont even talk or see me. I'm devastated as he's my world. Hanging in limbo and not knowing is killing me. He's told me he needs to clear his head and concentrate on getting himself back to normal. I've mentioned getting help together and to let me help, but I'm not sure I'm making any progress with him. I want to understand how to help him. Heartbroken. x

Also JennyKB, from a person who suffers all of the above then went to war at 17. I think I might have a view point most never consider.. Yet the thing they have in common is less Pain for all?

It's been 7 weeks now and xmas has been so sad not seeing him. I'm trying to keep in touch sending a text every few days but he seems to feel under pressure when I contact him. That's the bit I don't understand. He's pushed me so far away it's like I don't excist....again I don't understand that either. He's told me to give him time or walk....x

Hi Tibby,

I am currently in a similar situation and I've been here before, it is very hard. How are you getting on?

He seems to feel under pressure when I contact him?

If this is the case I would back off to help him and don't take it personal the out come will tell you what he needs and that may be you Tibby but also like me my battles are else where with my life I have no time for people that cause me pressure unless they help me up and I help them as life should be fair. :)

8 weeks on and still haven't seen him....no change really. He's asked for another two weeks so I've agreeded to that with no contact. Not much more to say. Over xmas our phone calls were normal but last week we had a massive row...I under how he must be feeling but I'm in a relationship single handed...alone...x

Hi Tibby,

Alone is how your feeling, remember that's how your boyfriend will be feeling as well, as it goes hand in hand with depression. You've done all you can for now, just give him the space he needs and then see what happens. I know its hard sweetheart, but try and be strong !!

Always here

Debs

Xx

What option do we have, been single 8 years now but only through choice and still enjoy everything around me. Or the other option is to Suffer? Choices?
