Hello everyone,

It's been a while since you've exchanged your thoughts and experiences in this group, so I thought I'd pop in and ask how are things going.

How have you been feeling? What's new?

Have you been preparing or been in for a treatment?

Have you learned anything lately that could be of use to others?

You are more than welcome to share what you have on your mind! We are here to support and to help.

I thank each and every one of you for the support you've been showing to each other lately and I hope we will continue in the same direction!

Margarita

That’s good to hear.  I think we can cope pretty well with anything once we can get some sleep and relax our minds.  Best of luck with your results xxx

I have just been diagnosed with stage one breast cancer. There isn’t any lump, a few cells were found on a routine mammogram. I am having a lumpectomy on 12th June, followed six weeks later with 15 sessions of radiotherapy. I am to take Tamoxifen for five years (I am post menopausal). Yearly mammograms. I agree with Niki the waiting is by far the worst. I was hysterical having to wait two weeks. Susie

I'm feeling grateful. For all the help of the doctors and other staff at the hospital and for my family who supports me. And for this community, I read your comments a lot and it means loads to me.

I am coming up to 10 tears since my diagnosis breast cancer stage 1/2 i had lumpectomy and 3 sentinel nodes removed 2 were positive so went in 4 weeks later for clearance of all nodes which all 15 were fine. and extra clearance taken from the site of the lumpectomy had 15 rounds of radiation refused fec chemo as only gives 2% extra cover. I was put on arimidex fir originally 5 years after taking 3 tablets i couldnt hold the kettle or saucepans i struggled to get out of bed the pains were horrific. (Im a tough cookie when it comes to pain stood hairdressing till i was 8 months pregnant full time didnt see the doctor till then and had both my children at home) i stopped taking it and rang my macmillan nurse who said go straighy back on them it may ease however it didnt after 9 months on this poison they tried me on exemerstane which was hardly any different i was now more or less housebound i was on this for just over a year then i was put on letrozole im still on it till next month then my treatment ends (10 years) i have got a trigger finger one of the side effects and havent slept for the whole time ive neen on these tablets i m awake every hour as my hips are so bad with the pain and now it gives way ive fell quite a few times. Im hoping i will get some relief once i stop taking them as i live on my own always been independent gardening decorating always done my own and ran my hairdressing salon for 13 years and raised my 2 daughters. It has been an horrendous 10 years i cant walk more than a few yards and use a walking stick now. My doctirs dont understand they havent got a clue how these tablets affect you and the damage they cause including weight gain. Im still alive but not living a good life.

@Sandie7 Hello Sandie7, thank you for your comment. I'm sorry to hear you've been having such terrible side effects. Let's hope that you feel better when you come off of them!

Has anyone else had negative side effects from your breast cancer treatment?

Take care,
Courtney

@Sandie7 @Courtney_J I just finished a round of chemo, but I had more digestive side effects. I lost my hair and then I was always terribly nauseous and exhausted and a bit constipated. Sandie that sound terrible, I hope you're doing better!

A lot of people on cancer uk site have had similar side effects. But doctors just seem to brush them off. Im a strong person lived on my own for 40 years and when i was pregnant stood hairdressing till a week before my 1st daughter was born and started back when she was 10 days old didnt go the doctors till i was 8 months pregnant. I would sooner go through childbirth every month than end up like this
