Honestly, I lost count of how many ‘friends’ I’ve lost along the way. But the truth is, people who disappear when things get hard were never real friends to begin with.
Yes, I have health issues. Yes, I have to cancel plans or can’t always show up, but we’re still good friends. I still care. It’s just that some people are too selfish to look past their own inconvenience. They don’t see the pain you’re in or how much you’re struggling… all they think about is how your illness affects them.
I’m an introvert by nature, so the loss doesn’t hit me as hard, but if you’re more extroverted I completely understand why it would hurt more.
The right people, the ones who genuinely care, will understand. They’ll stay.
The rest? Honestly, let them go.
Focus on you and your health, that’s what truly matters

Pain, fatigue, and cognitive issues linked to fibromyalgia can affect social life. Some people may feel isolated or misunderstood, which can worsen emotional distress.
👉 How has fibromyalgia changed your relationships with others?
👉 Have you had to give up certain social or friendly activities?
👉 Do you feel understood and supported by those around you?
👉 Have you found ways to stay socially connected despite the illness?
Your experiences are valuable — feel free to share in the comments!
Have a lovely day,
Somya.P from the Carenity team 💞
