Medication indications

Glucose 10% w/v Solution for Infusion

Glucose 10% w/v Solution for Infusion is indicated for:

Supply of carbohydrate alone or, as required, during parenteral nutrition.

Prevention and treatment of hypoglycaemia.

Rehydration in case of water loss and dehydration states in patients with high carbohydrate need.

Dilution of compatible medicinal products.

Glucose 20% w/v Solution for Infusion

Glucose 20% is hypertonic and provides a source of calories in a minimal volume of water. Glucose 20% is frequently used in both adults and children to restore blood glucose concentrations in the treatment of hypoglycaemia resulting from insulin excess or from other causes.

Glucose 20% may be used to provide temporary relief from the symptoms of cerebral oedema and from hypoglycaemic coma. Hyperosmotic Glucose with or without insulin may correct hyperkalaemia in renal failure and also some forms of hyponatraemia.

Glucose 40% w/v Concentrate for solution for infusion

Glucose 40% w/v is for use in admixtures to provide temporary relief from the symptoms of increased intracranial pressure and hypoglycaemic coma and is also indicated for the supplementation of energy in parenteral nutrition.

Glucose 5% Intravenous Infusion BP

Glucose 5% is indicated for the treatment of carbohydrate and fluid depletion.

Glucose 5% is also used as a vehicle and diluent for compatible medicinal products for parenteral administration.

Glucose 50% w/v Concentrate for solution for infusion
