@Lauraj1981 Hello Lauraj19814, thank you for opening this discussion and sharing what you've been going through. Congratulations on your pregnancy! Let me tag some other members living with Crohn's who can possibly shed some light for you.
Hello everyone!
Do you know if Crohn's disease is hereditary? Does anyone else in your family have Crohn's? And for those of you who are parents, can you share a bit of your experience on raising children with Crohn's? Are there any particular challenges that Lauraj19814 and her boyfriend should look out for?

My Crohn’s disappeared when I was pregnant I felt great for about 8 months but as soon as I gave birth it started back up.

my view that it is hereditary on my dads side my granmother had bowel trouble and like me three of my cousins on the same side have sever crohns like me. have two sons who are now 34 and 36 years old now and only had occasional bad stomachs but never got worse .so its not saying it will be passed on to your baby

Sorry if I’m in wrong forum but just after some advice. I recently found out I’m pregnant, it was a complete shock and unplanned, My boyfriend has always said he doesn’t want children and so is not taking the news well. He has Crohns very bad and is concerned that this will be passed on to the baby and also that he will not be a good Dad as there will be times when he can’t help me as he will need to look after himself. I completely understand his concerns but I really want to have the baby. Does anybody have any experiences they can share? Does Crohns make parenting difficult etc? Thanks in advance
