Hello,
Even if type 1 diabetes is controlled by regular insulin injections, a proper diet is not excluded from recommendations.
We can very well eat healthy when we cook at home, but what about going out to restaurants or going to dinners at friends or family?
What do you usually do - do you have a list of things you usually order at a restaurant? Do your friends/family prepare special dishes when you come over or do you bring your own food with you?
Don't hesitate to share your stories.

I tend to stick to grilled foods, salads and if I take a dessert, I look for something fruit based, liker fruit salad. Don't be afraid to ask about sugar-free or sugar-light options. A lot of places have them, especially the chains.

What helps me is making substitutions. Instead of getting mash with my meat, I'll ask for a side salad or a side of veg. In general I try to avoid pasta where I can and go more for meat dishes.
