Low-Carb to Manage Type 1 Diabetes – Diet Doctor

A low-carb diet is great for managing type 1 diabetes (not just type 2). Here’s a typical story from an email I got today: Dear Andreas, Thank you for your website.

Hi all,

This discussion has gone down with the arrival of the new ones but I think there are still things to say concerning low carb diets.

You are very welcome to share your ideas and your own experiences with your diet.

Thank you!

I have been on a LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) diet since November, and ok I might have had the odd few days here and there, where I have fallen off the wagon, but in the main I have stayed clear of white flour and white sugar and feel much better. I have lost nearly 2 stone, have joined the Facebook group Low Carb in the UK and get a lot of support from the group, both with encouragement and recipes etc. My blood pressure and Cholesterol haven't been so low for nearly 6 years. I don't have Diabetes but I have Arthritis in my lower back, and the weight loss has helped that.
