How did you experience the diagnosis of your diabetes (age, circumstances)? What were the first symptoms?

I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was 17 years old. At this time, I had often stomach ache. So I went to hospital and the doctor said that I had diabetes.

Diabetes
Is a protocol designed to help cells sense the level of glucose in the body, in order to help secrete the amount of insulin needed to keep the body healthy and balanced.

I was diagnosed at the age of 24, my symptoms were extreme thirst I used to drink a 2lt bottle of water on a 30min journey to work, ice cold water would only slightly quench the thirst had lost about 3 stone weight (great way to loose weight shame about the after effects)
I eventually sought medical attention due to family advice once doctors did finger test sent me to hospital immediately, spent a week in hospital regulating my bs having to glucose test every hour 24hrs a day.
I think one of the most daunting things of being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes was being give an insulin pen for the first time to self inject(I asked nurse to show me for the first one).
