Hi juju,
It shocks me to hear that you are taking gabapentin and have fibro cause I used to take that same medicine for treating my epilepsy. I can tell you that for my condition it did heped me but it triggered a lot of mood swings so eventualy I asked my GP to change it. So I don't think that is the case for everyone but just be careful and well it is weird to see that it is also used in other diseases. I hope it helps you.
Cheers

hi
I've been on gabapentin for nearly a year for my fibro I think it helps, but I also take liquid and tablet morphine along with an anti inflammatory as well as amitriptaline.
Hope this helps

Hi both and thanks for your feedback. Gabapentin is given for Epileptics and people who have fibromyalgia for nerve pain. I am taking it for fibro, but I have taken it before for my seizures, firstly thought I could have epilepsy. (non epileptic attack disorder is what I have) But it doesn't help drugs for that condition. I also take Citalopram, Tramadol and Marol. From epilepsy and those drugs a lot of them didn't suit me. I am feeling a bit better this week than last from the nerve pain I had, bug bearing! Fingers crossed.

Hi I was on 200mg of Gabapentin 3* day for 6 months until I developed a sever skin rash. The rash would weep and I would wake up and find that I was wet all over my neck and chest. A change to 100mg Pregabalin 3* cured the rash and gave me a similar pain reduction. I also take Amitriptyline before bedtime to help me sleep and 100mg of Tramadol 4* a day for my pain. Unfortunately my medication does not completely control my pain and I have Steroids and Anaesthetic injections in my elbows every 3 months, my ankles and toes every 6 to 12 months and my spine 3 to 4* a year. At present I am confined to bed 1 to 2 days a week and to help my mobility I use crutches indoors or walking sticks outside. I have been taking Pregabalin for over 5 years now and it reduces my pain better then any pain killer that my GP could prescribe. To find out which dosage was best for me I gradually increased my dosage until it almost stopped my pain. Unfortunately by this time I was tired and confused all of the time and so I reduced the dosage until I was sentient and was aware of my surroundings.

hiya
ive been on gabapentin 300mg 3 times a day for juat over a year, but the pain clinic has just started weaning me off it, it didn't help me much at all and since I've been taking it I have put a lot of weight on, which isn't ideal, but I have also talked to people who have had wonderful results from it

I take gabapetin for my epilepsy as I said, but it is true that there are people that I know that have gained wheight and some of them dropped it, but then stoped feeling as well as they did with the medicine, and others just started having a more careful diet and more excersise, one of my friends even went to a nutritionist and she was great cause she already had experience with patients taking that med

I've just had my gabapentin reviewed an kept me on my dose of 100mg 3 times a day, but admitted I wasn't taking it 3 times, so inclined to make sure I take the 3 and give it more time if I was to go on 300mg! Not having any side effects different to what I am feeling with other meds. I do find using a anti histamine daily helps with rashes etc!
