Hi saw my doc last week she suggested I try gabapentine again which i tried fir a shirt while a few years ago low dose. Started on 1 then 2 then day 3 3 tablets 900mg. By that night was writhing in agony ready to throw myself out of THE bedroom window. Bad bad reaction stripped the lining of my stomach so this added to the osteo pain not good. Has anyone else had this reaction. Was given some kolanticon gel to line my stomach which I'm allergic to and have scratched my self raw not having a good time and feel so miserable.

Hello Gill.j..The op takes about 2 hours and no you do not feel anything but you can hear the drills/saws and hammering..it sounds horrendous but you are sedated so it’s a bit like being in a dream (or nightmare lol)
I had arrived at the hospital at 7am and had to wait until 5 pm for surgery and was so scared they had to sedate me before going into theatre which was a blessing as i had been listening to the man ahead of me having his op and knowing that i was next! Not pleasant.
Make sure if you choose to have an epidural that you get good pain relief after surgery as i was just given Paracetamol and Codeine which didn’t are the pain away..eventually my GP gave me Co-Codamol which was better although i ended up taking strong Ibuprofen..the pain after surgery is something they do not warn you about.
I am now pain free and able to walk well, just a bit stiff coming downstairs and i still elevate my leg when sitting as that
was what i was told to do.

Hi Moonstone1. Thank you very much for that information, it was very helpful. I just have to lose this weight now to be considered. Glad you are moving better now. Take care.

I once had very severe unbearable back pain many years ago. I was given Naproxen. I am afraid I was unable to continue with it, as it gave me tremors of my hands, nerves all over the place not to mention diarrhoea. I have never taken it and will never ever take it again It may be suitable for some, but for me, a definite NO NO.

I am finding it difficult to stand erect , being dependent on using 2 walking sticks to do so and as I already have scoliosis of the lumbar spine , Obviously , this makes every day tasks more dificult . As a result , I am now being investigated for kephoscoliosis . Still waiting to have my left knee replaced .

I had Scoliosis when my L 3 slipped. I was walking with 2 crutches. I was investigated for 6 months before I had the surgery. I was twisted to my right and bent over to my middle. They managed to un twist me, but failed to straighten me. The rods were too short. They did not do the stretch test properly. After waiting for another 6 months, I had another surgery, Complex Revision of Instrumentation, when they inserted longer Titanium rods to stand me upright. Unfortunately with a year without physio or proper advise, I lost my muscle tone and am bent from my hips. Hence I am now permanently walking with two crutches. No amount of physio would ever stand me upright now.
I wish you good luck and hope you do better than me

Hi, unfortunately I can’t tolerate turmeric as it increases my hot flushes as any anti inflammatory medication does.
