I was diagnosed as diabetic on 7 January 2022

i am now blind in left eye and half blind in right eye.

hospital stuffing me with steroids, but failed to monitor my blood sugar.

I am a little pi**** off to put it mildly.

steroid induced diabetes is the diagnosis.

how bad is this!

@Chaszzz so sorry for that, guarantee Conservative Party will gut NHS and unfortunately for us. Use the American system style healthcare system. Hope they have supplied you with a blood glucose meter and ketostix tester. I can remember being diagnosed and dreaded needles, imagine my shock given the old glass syringes etc 😥😢😭.

Thank goodness soon on disposable but had to reuse as only 100 for the year

Hope you are being treated correctly now and do not forget - diabetesuk.co.uk

Same as Wing43, I have been type 1 for 39 years. Moved to pump 12 years ago as lost all hypo awareness after human insulin switch. Four years ago I was told I have bleed on right macula ( eye consultant recommended laser treatment). Still waiting but Pennine trust NHS is poor/6 year wait (due to Conservative Southern favouritism). I've given up hope of NHS treatment, going private

I’m type 1 diabetic 32years + pretty good control apart from the odd blip. My eye sight started bothering me a few years ago I now attend the local hospital eye clinic & yearly option checkups

i would like to ask as anyone on here ever had Cellulitis. I got in my left calf in March 22 thar cleared then returned worse than ever in April it was horrendous massive blisters , I had to go A & F where I ended going for IV antibiotics having it dressed for 2 weeks in total I was on antibiotics for 48 days I have still have a red leg where my skin has been damaged a year later.

be interested if any other Diabetics have had this horrible infection

@Nanaclaire my husband had cellulitis but he didn’t have diabetes, his returned 3 times and turned into sepsis which he died off so be aware it will come back if you are stressed or run down, I have type 1 diabetes so are very away of the symptoms to look out for any signs I will go to hospital, it’s a horrible infection that lies format then flares up.

I have had cataracts, I have neuropathy in both feet and lower legs, I have a poor appetite, my sense of taste has changed (I can no longer taste certain foods), I have had blood blisters on both retinas requiring laser surgery, I have had a mini stroke, and I have had a cardiac arrest.
