Does anyone else feel that their GPs are reluctant to refer patients over 60 to consultants and just offer joint injections and pills. I am 67, mentally active but suffer with all my joints at times and feel that my concerns are largely ignored. Doctors only have a 10 minute slot and sometimes this is just not enough.
I know exactly what you mean Worthy47. My husband is 65 and has a similar problem. He has the added difficulty of Mental Health problems, and I sometimes think that they dismiss him and his concerns for that reason! He suffers chronic pain in his joints, particularly his hip. He was put on Pregabalin as a pain medication. It is actually for other things, but has pain relieving properties too. They won't give him Tramadol or Morphine because of his Depression. Finally he has had an injection for the leg pain, but getting any sort of diagnosis other than non-specific generalized pain is almost impossible.
