Hello everyone,

During this Coronavirus pandemic, many of us have been advised to "social distance" ourselves or even to stay at home, limiting contact with strangers, friends and even in some cases, family. No more outings to the cinema, the shops, the theatre and all those things we love to do.

We may be "stuck" at home, but let's not let it get us down!

Here are a few little ideas to help you keep busy while staying at home!

Take advantage of this time to:

  1. Call and check up on your loved ones.
  2. Get back into sport (indoors, obviously emoticon wink)! The internet is full of all kinds of tutorials and guides, there is something for everyone!
  3. Read or reread the "classics" or any other of your favourite books.
  4. Spend some time in the kitchen, recreating old recipes or testing new ones. emoticon pizza
  5. Do some spring cleaning or reorganisation.
  6. And above all, do things that make you happy! emoticon dance

What will you be doing whilst staying at home? Do you have any tips or ideas for activities? Share you thoughts or ideas below!

Take care,

Courtney

I have been out once since 15th March and I’m getting stir crazy! Missing the grandchildren so much, particularly the two youngest who live close to us. We usually have our three year old granddaughter to tea once a week but now have to make do with FaceTiming her and her baby brother was only six weeks old when this nightmare started . We’ve only seen him on FaceTime since then and are missing cuddles. We read bedtime stories to his sister over FaceTime, good but not the same.

There was an announcement on TV this morning that vulnerable and shielded people can go out from tomorrow, can visit in some one else's house but must maintain social distance of 2 meters. So that's a start neil. So do not dispare. Stay safe every one

I do take some comfort from my 20 year old grandson who is in isolation with his girlfriend as he had a lifesaving bone marrow transplant when he was 12. He said to me at the start of this pandemic when he got a text message from his medical team riding him to go home and isolate “I did it before for over two months when I was 12 and at least this time I’m not having to go through chemotherapy, the transplant and the side effects this time! We’re so proud of how he’s just coped with all life has thrown at him and grown into a lovely young man. He missed most of his first two years of high school but still went on to get 10 good GCSEs, good A levels and is in the middle of a degree level apprenticeship. If he could cope then and come through  so can I!

@Neil1964

Neil, you make very good statements in that you will not go out until it is safe to do so. This is such an important thing to follow but such an easy thing to fall over on - it doesn't matter what the government say - the potential danger is still there, and it is usually someone else's fault when things go wrong! It's not easy, but keep taking care and STAY SAFE. It will be worth it in the long term. And that applies to everyone here.

If you feel down there are many here to talk to ...

As always, best wishes, Gecko [a medic]

@Neil1964

Neil, Try to think in terms not of finding someone to lay the blame on [even yourself] but of finding a solution to the problem as you see it - not always the easiest thing to do but a good way of getting you away from the negative thinking that you appear to be drifting towards. Try to relax and enjoy every day as it comes.

Take care and KEEP SAFE!

Gecko emoticon bye
