@mjteddy Hello Mjteddy, thank you for starting this discussion! It can be difficult adjusting to wearing a mask when going out, especially for those of us with respiratory conditions. Let me ask some other members if they have any tips  or any advice on wearing a mask when  you have asthma!

Hello all, I hope you're doing well today! Do you also find it difficult wearing a mask? Does it aggravate or irritate your asthma? What do you do? Do you have any tips or techniques to make it more comfortable? Has your GP given you any advice?

Yes I find it difficult wearing a mask. Yes it aggravates my asthma and I start to panic. I don't have any tips and no the GP hasn't given me any advice at all. I can't stick anything covering my face I struggle to breathe

Hi, I have to agree, wearing a mask is awful, I very quickly feel I can’t breath. Out getting essentials the other day I started to panic and ripped my mask off! I made sure I social distanced, that’s the best I could do, it was the better of the two evils. There’s no advice out there what alternative you have other than stay in 😞

I had to attend the doctors on Friday for my annual diabetes blood tests and had to wear a mask to attend my appointment, ( my wife had to cancel here at the same time due to anxiety issues) I wore one for around 15 minutes all told and by the time I came out of the doctors I was quite breathless and put it into the bin as soon as I got out of the doctors, when I got back to my car i sat for 5-10 minutes to recover then drove home about 10 mins away.  I had to use my inhalor when I got home, I wasn't very good the rest of the day so I put it down to stress and the 15 minutes of not being able properly

I have been told all medical grade masks contain latex. Working for the nhs I'm worried when shielding ends as there wont be a suitable mask to wear. Any advice, I'm asthmatic with a latex allergy

Yes I find it very difficult to breath in my mask, I feel like I'm suffocating which makes me panic,  I usually have my ex-husband with me when I shop as we shop for me, my mum and he does his shopping too but I end up in a very bad mood and can't wait until I can get the stupid thing off.

Have tried a couple of different masks in case but cant breathe after 30 seconds.

I was at the hospital the other day for an appointment, was told by medical staff I don't have to wear a mask as it can make asthma worse. It also posted on side off my buses that anybody with lung problem are exempt
