The major issue is loss of weight as you cannot eat or don't want to eat. Similar to the last weeks of life as you refuse food, in my experience of the dying, I simply did not care. But the hospital has specific weight scale where if your weight loss exceeds 10% or more they put you on the ward to be fed through a tube, delightful. I was well overweight loosing some 6 stone over the six weeks of treatment but was able/allowed to stay out of hospital. I had the horrible milk shakes, ordered alsorts to experiment with and my wife tried her best adapting the menu, especially post treatment. Taste of food did change from metalic taste to chocolate etc. being quite different. We did experiment with mince meat with veg in various forms with plenty of lubrication became the staple diet of main meals. So not a question of a tip but experiment to find what suits you and you keep down or the alternative is the hospital bed with a tube up your nose. A fit thin American airman went through the same treatment and ended up in hospital within weeks. The ideal solution is put on as much weight on before you start treatment if you can. Being thin and fit is not an avantage!

Hi everyone 💛 How are you feeling today?
Cancer treatments like chemo or radiation can really affect your appetite, taste, and digestion, and on some days, even the idea of food can feel overwhelming.
💬 So let’s talk about it:

Eating well during and after treatment can be a real challenge, but we’re all learning from each other. 💬
Take care,
