My first monhs after diagnosis:-
Dad had PD. He was diagnosed when he was in his mid 50's. He managed to continue to work until he retired at 65. He was a solid man.
I knew that I had a problem at least 2 years before diagnosis. The GP wouldn't believe me. However, after continuously raising the issue with the GP, they referred me to the hospital for a DAT scan.
I knew what the result would be.
When I received the letter confirming PD, it was no shock. It was just a case of starting meds and working out what works for me.
I am lucky because my family know about PD having researched it when Dad was diagnosed.
So, to summarise:-
No big shock
No family issues
Life continues as normal
