Hi folks,

I hope everyone is feeling well, or as well as expected. I have just had a bad two weeks. I was feeling sick, dizzy, tired, etc. A blood test showed that my calcium level was 2.9. I had to go to the hospital to have treatment via IV. I wasn't told what to expect and was sent home. In the early hours of the following day, I was being sick and running a temperature of 38.9. All this happened on a weekend, of course, I did not know who to call for help. I didn't fancy sitting in A & E for hours so I struggled. On Monday I called the oncologist nurse specialist, only to be told I was out in the community. I have heard nothing from my oncologist so I don't know if she even knows this has happened.

I am worried as hypercalcaemia appears to be bad. Could I be over acting to another twist on this journey called cancer? Has anyone esle had this?

God bless you all.

Shirley.

Hi Sandie7,

sorry I didn't mean to scare you. As I have secondaries in my liver, it was something that I was reading about. I will be more careful with what I say. This journey is hard enough without making stupid comments. I am really sorry.

How are you feeling now?

Kindest regards,

Shirley.

@Shirley61 it' alright just scared me as both my gp and endocrinologist say it's primary hyperparathyroidism possibly a tumor on one of the parathyroid glands which is situated behind the thyroid they are usually benign. I saw a different doctor for my abnormal blood result and he was hopeless the one I should have seen was off sick. The receptionist said it was abnormal and t9 make an appt to see her. I shall go back again nd wait to see her as surely the hospital can't be wrong

All fine with blood tests heart fine blood pressure fine legs back to normal looks like veins narrowing caused the swelling. Hyperparathyroidism stable another blood test in 6 months. Got to go for xray on my tibia as bone miss shapen had this 2 years last gp didnt bother. She thinks could be old injury but still painful as ive had breast cancer im obviously worried she says if it doesnt come back as old injury will send me for a full bone scan but hopefully will be ok.
