I suffer with ptsd low moods depression and anxiety because of all the trauma in my younger years, being a coeliac, and the bereavement of my mum having to look after her for 6 months while having to hold down a full time job, and looking after my family, and with dad falling to his death from his mental hospital window and me having to identify his body , also having breast cancer, plus all my other illnesses, it's hard and it still is today plus when I was young the bullying was hard to cope with as I couldn't tell my mum as she had enough coping with my dad being in a mental hospital for 28 yrs, and it was hard for me going to the mental hospital to visit him at the young age of 4 and seeing things going on with him, in straight jackets etc seeing nurses carrying ice in large baths hearing patients screaming, and shouting seeing women in there with teddy bears in there arms, and seeing my dad after having ect Treatment it's been really hard trying to cope with it all especially being raped at 17 that's why I suffer now from ptsd low moods depression and anxiety and I am 71 I have been on all kinds of medication, and still am today this is my mental health story, now I have loads of life threatening illnesses, and I am still trying to cope with going through a mastectomy not feeling like a women anymore, plus having osteoporosis, being deaf in both ears, glaucoma, and suffering from lymphodema in my left arm and copd and emphysema it's hard but life goes on but sometimes I just burst into tears but at least I am alive there are a lot of people that are worse off than me,

Suicidal thoughts, not coping, how to get treatment without carrying out my plans?

I take each day as it comes, try to have a focus for that day. Today is pretty good, but it gives me a nudge every now and again. H

Hi everyone,
A new 20-year study has found that PTSD symptoms can persist or even worsen long after a traumatic event, sometimes lasting decades. The research followed thousands of responders to the 9/11 attacks and found that while many improved over time, others struggled for years, especially those without strong coping tools or social support.
This study is a powerful reminder that trauma doesnβt always follow a neat recovery timeline. For some, symptoms like flashbacks, anxiety, or emotional numbness may resurface years later, especially after life changes like retirement, illness, or anniversaries of the event.
π If you live with PTSD, how has your experience evolved over time?
π Have certain life events made symptoms better or worse?
π What helps you feel safe, supported, or grounded when trauma flares up?
