Hi, I'm new to the forum, I struggle both with obesity and with generalised anxiety. I'm hoping to share with you all and ask you how you're doing during this lockdown and the coronavirus situation in general?

To tell the truth, it has really not been easy to cope with everything that is happening. I've had ups and downs, and being isolated from my family has at times caused me a lot of stress. I am very afraid that someone close to me will get infected, I have a constant uncertainty and with the long days that sometimes pass very slowly and give me a lot of time (probably too much time) to think.

I think it helps me a lot to talk about things and exteriorise my feelings - it helps me realise when my fears are irrational and that this, as everything in life will pass.

Hopefully this will help some others too, please feel free to share how you are doing too! What are you doing to pass the time and ease your anxieties?

Stay safe!

If you feel down and have mental issues I myself suffer with PTSD low moods depression and anxiety, because of all the trauma I have gone through in my life I do understand how you feel it is much harder to cope with mental health problems when we have this kind of thing to cope with ,when I feel really down I try to do different things ,I try and concentrate on a picture of something that is lovely and I sit bring that picture up and I tap slowly on each leg and just concentrate on that event or something else, myself I bring a picture up of my mum Blackberrying when I was a kid and I find it does help ,sometimes I colour pictures ,or do knitting and that is relaxing to ,if I find I am really in an negative way I right down everything that is positive to me and I also right all the negatives then I put all the negatives in a bag or a box and I discard them like trying to get rid of the negatives and concentrate on the positive, and that helps me to but if I cant see my family and friends then I pick up the phone anc chat that way as long as you have something or someone to concentrate on then I think maybe that will help but if you are feeling down then just come on to the cerenity page because there is always someone like yourself who needs to chat or yo can always chat to me ,hope this helps stay safe love and hugs from Tiger xxx

@Tigger.co.uk Thank you so much for your advice! I'll give visualising a happy moment a try, that sounds like it's very calming. I've heard too that colouring is "therapeutic" ! I might ask my flatmate if he can find one the next time he goes out for the shopping.

@Biggy! I agree with you, talking or writing things out really helps. Did you try the visualising technique? I've never really thought of doing that before and wonder if it helped you too.
