Dear forum members. To those of you whom are well enough to be aware of whats going on in the world outside and those of you who may have read the latest news on Andreas Lubitz, I'd like to ask you a question.

Have you ever felt, or do you feel like harming others, to the point of taking their lives, when at the point of your deepest Depression ???

I'm disgusted that the media have taken this tiny piece of evidence and turned it into another means to tarnish the worlds misundestanding of Depression.

I for one firmly know and believe, my Employers were well aware of my Depression. I would categorically say that most or any decent Employer would know if one of their employees was suffering with Depression (or one of the many words/phrases) the Medical world are now beginning to label it.

I for one at my lowest point would never have thought of harming anyone else, let alone killing them. I certainly wouldn't have been capable of co-Piloting (if I could fly) a plane. Most days I hardly felt like getting out of bed.

This fiction the media are peddling is seriously beginning to make me angry. I certainly wouldn't have torn up any sick-note. I was so desperate for help I turned to most 'therapies' for help. I dont think I would have dismissed a 'sick-day' and then raced off to go fly a plane !!!! :-s

What do the rest of you sufferers think???

Unfortunately,  i have really terrible thoughts sometimes and i guess i have perhaps had the thought of hurting others. But i think, mainly myself. I think, i may be at one of my deepest points (of depression), as i've been more irritable, angry lately.

I was 'ministering' to someone in church this afternoon, whom has suffered with Fear and Panic Attacks. This person keeps saying F, you suffered with this and have come through it, tell me how you dealt with daily panic attacks?" This person said they had a major attack some months ago and rang the NHS helpline for help, as they live alone.
They said that the 'helpline' asked them exactly those same questions....
"Do you feel like to will/want to commit suicide?", "Do you feel you want to do harm to others?" They replied No to both.

This person had a hard difficult upbringing, was 'rejected' by the father and family, followed by years in the military and other years he was told he was a horrible person who would amount to nothing. I suspect they may also suffer from PTSD.

To answer 'Butterflies'. Anger can be a deep, deep form of resentment to others and yourself. It can be a form of selfishness, for most of us are creatures of wanting things for ourselves. If we don't have an appropriate upbringing, thinking the world revolves around us and that everything was created for our self gratification, we can turn into bitter twisted beings.

We have to let go and forgive those who have hurt, damaged us whether intentionally or un-intentionally, plus some other words of councel. I Prayed for this person. As I did, I could see tears of hurt and healing streaming down their face.
You may then find the anger, depression fading away.
