Hello all,

How are you today? I thought I would open this discussion to introduce a new activity to help us talk about our mental health!
@JoanJordan‍ @ljc1969‍ @Raindrops‍ @piratethumb200‍ @CJames‍ @yoga_depression123‍ @cassie‍ @Tigger.co.uk‍ @RolandKi‍ @Shelly1pap‍ @Randa9999‍ @Rachaelk‍ @Fefecolclough0012‍ @Daisydef‍ @ALFIEADA97‍ @Jonolco‍ @Bornf33‍ @PoppyFlux‍

It's called Thorn, Rose, Bud:

First, tell us about your thorn: What has been a challenge you've faced in your mental health journey? What isn't working well for you in managing your condition?

Next, tell us about your rose: What has been a success for you in managing your mental health? Is it a medicine, a therapist, a technique or other treatment?

And finally, tell us about your bud: What are you hopeful about in your mental health journey? Is there an opportunity or something you see potential in for your condition?

Feel free to share here!

Take care,
Courtney

@Courtney_J This is an interesting concept! Here goes:

Thorn: I've been really struggling with my depression in and since lockdown. The constant negative news coverage and the isolation is hard.

Rose: I've started writing in my journal and going for long walks in nature to clear my head and it has helped a lot

Bud: A friend shared a sort of online therapy service where you can do sessions through a video call with me and it looks like something that my be helpful to me since I'm trying to stay distanced and stay safe from the virus. I haven't tried it yet but it looks like it may be a real option for me :)

I continually battle with depression as part of my fibromyalgia, crps, addison disease, and the list goes on. The lock down has made things difficult, but not  impossible. How do i cope? My faith is mega important to me, dont worry, im not going to convert you all, lol. I try and keep myself busy, by setting up a museum collection of resuscitation equipment, i suppose i cant fully let go of my calling as an emt. That is what i call my job, unfortunately my condition wrecked my body and claimed my life as an ambulance emt. I dont know if there is a right royal road to success in dealing with depression, but learning together is a good way to start.                                       Be safe and be of good cheer.               Roy

my "thorn" is the challenge to try and do whatever is necessary every day, despite how I feel

my "rose" is the effort I make to do the necessary chores every day.

my "bud" is my determination to try and do my best every day in coping especially with essential chores,
