Hi there I dont know if I have depression not even sure im on the right group.. i dont want to waste anyone's time....im fine when im in company but on my own I just feel

hopeless most of the time and rarely get out of bed...short version been separated over a year we had 2 stillborn children in 2 years 2008 and 2010 we never really recovered...so today im 42 living with parents have a dead end job no money no prospects and ive been left with a 5-figure debt...just dont see any light just now...have the odd 'eureka' day when im going to get fit go to college get myself a new career...but I always end up back in bed with a takeaway...I know its probably a direct result of my situation but its been 14 months now im getting concerned...even if I did go to the doctor I have a bit of a medication phobia I only take an asthma inhaler nothing else so whatever is going on I have to fix it myself....thanks for reading

Hi @solo72  - I think you are in the right group.  I am no doctor, so can't be sure but what you describe sounds very much like the rut my son was in and he was diagnosed as having depression.  If you don't want medication, see if a GP would refer you for CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - it was the only thing that worked for my son - he had a course of that and is now like a new man.  He has got his get up and go back, and has made plans for his future for the first time in about six years.

Might be worth a try..................  Also, have a look at this website - it will help you decide if you actually have depression!
