I can't leave the house. I can't go out. I have managed work but not been to college all week. I feel hopeless and started to drink again. I want to finish this course so bad, I know I can do it but if this is how I have handled one year at college how am I supposed to do UNI!?  I am 25 and these "phases" of hopelessness and misery just never seem to stop...

I am shit again. Struggling with the last stretch of my course. Work have cut my hours to ONE day a week so considering applying for PIP. Getting evicted from my flat because i was off sick for 3 months last year and haven't caught up with the rent. Relationship is...weird. Feel like giving up. :'( taking the meds but they are not doing the job (evidently). Saw a GP last week and was told medication can help no further and this is "in my nature". Left sobbing. Want to try mood stabilisers. Want to cry. Can't do any housework, can;t be bothered to cook, boiler is broken so I can't wash. Mental health issues are a bitch.

I am a little confused about why you haven't applied for PIP. Have you got the idea that it is means tested or not for those who are working. Neither is true. You could be CEO of Barclays Bank earning millions but provided you met the PIP criteria you would be entitled to it. There is also the possibility of backdating, only for a maximum of 6 months I think. Arguing that you were poorly advised about your eligibility might be sufficient.

I am sorry about your treatment from your doctor. They do vary in their knowledge and interest in psychiatry. You don't have to accept his opinion. Your area will have another tier of services, the Community Mental Health Team, though yours may be called something different. They deal in cases that are more complex and difficult than a GP can properly handle. At your age effectively writing you off isn't acceptable. The CMHT will have way more knowledge and experience of possible treatment options. Unfortunately you need a referral from your GP. But if they have no interest in providing treatment for you why should they care about passing you on.

I hope you get somewhere.

Steve

Don't be too judgmental of yourself Ladyfire; you have been doing great. Remember 2 steps forward ,3 steps back.

Take a deep breath and calm yourself down.  Small steps are now required.

Have you visited Citizens advice ? They will help you to sort out what you may be entitled too.

If you are renting then the landlord /council is responsible for the repair of the boiler.

I agree with Steve, your GP shouldn't be writing you off; they are there to help you ; if they can't then they should pass you on to someone who can.

Have you spoken to your course tutor/ student services about your struggle? They can't help if you don't make them aware.

You probably feel that the whole world is against you , try but try and calm down and try and focus on what is your priority.

Do you have someone close to help you to concentrate on one issue at a time, accompany you to the above meetings including your GP? They could be a real help in being your voice.

You really need to eat a healthy balanced diet....healthy food can only be a positive for your well being. Getting a decent sleep, so calm yourself down prior to bed.

Medication can only do so much in alleviating the heaviness of your illness but the real hard work comes from you.

Stick with it, you have proved that you can do it before and so you can definitely do it again.

You can do it.

Big hugs. xxx
