Hello,

I'm double posting today because I've had both these topics on my mind this past week. It will help me get them down.

The news is never joyous. I am growing even more concerned about the future of our country which is making me feel more filled with dread and puts me into a spiral. New King, new PM, inflation, energy crisis, volatility of the value of the pound, then today I kept hearing news of loss of productivity in the UK. All together this cannot be good. Then I think about my role in all this, which is nothing-to sit back and watch and be taken out to sea by the doom of it all.

How are we not just giving up?!

Hi @sodowninsurrey

Feel free to post as many posts as you'd like! Carenity is a safe space for your to share your feelings. It's not just in the UK where things are bit 'unsteady' Things are always changing, it is part of life. I think the current news cycle just highlights more negative seeming news because it gets more clicks. I would suggest watch a movie, or better yet, read a book to get away from the negativity.

Let me tag a few other members that might be able to give you some advice.

@James1966 @Idris63 @LADolton134 @NannyJo @Josozzy @Farraghers @Asheyia @Sevinitram @Jenny4 @LauraDavison @Lynny27 @ttwiglet @Lealee @Bonkers @Jojobetty @Katielou217 @Heebygb @Williamps @LouiseB @Michaelclarke @trevork @AlanaArmstrong

What do you do when the news around you is negative? How do you escape? Do you still watch the news despite sad content?

Let us know what you do!

Take care,

Lizzi

@LizziB I don't read a newspaper and seldom listen to the news as I find it extremely depressing.

I continue to do voluntary editing, participate on social media, advocate and educate people on epilepsy, and do Word Search puzzles to keep me busy, and my brain in tact.

All the above keep me well occupied in the meantime.

Hi

I think the world has gone through so many ups and down when it comes to politics and the economy and the environment. What's happening now is just part of it. Strangely, it all matters so much but then not at all. We still go about our daily lives, whatever that looks like for you. While we are affected, we will soon forget all about it. Kind of like Covid.
