First of all I would like to thank those of you who have taken part in our poll "How old were you when you were first diagnosed with Breast Cancer?" that was online until today. I would also like to encourage those who did not answer the poll question to do it next time: this way we can get more answers and thus a better idea about how Carenity members cope with their condition.

Now, here are the results of the last poll.
Breast cancer diagnosed in middle-aged and older adults
Almost 76% of the respondents were diagnosed at the age of 41 to 60, while nationwide half of breast cancer cases happen to be diagnosed in women over 60 years old, according to Breast Cancer Care UK. Among our respondents only 18% were diagnosed aged 61 to 70, and 3% were 70 years old and older at the time of diagnosis.
However, breast cancer can also develop much earlier: of the 62,000 cases of breast cancer in the UK per year, about 5,000 cases are diagnosed in women under 45 years old. Among our respondents, only 3% were diagnosed in their thirties, and no one in their twenties.
Impact of breast cancer depending on the age of the patient
The diagnosis can be perceived and accepted differently at different age, especially due to various problems that may follow the diagnosis: infertility in younger women, treatment interference with other conditions in older women, etc.
