For me, the pink ribbon doesn’t really tell the whole story.
My grandmother had breast cancer, and after a few years it came back. Watching someone in my family go through that made me realise how much fear and uncertainty can remain even after treatment has finished.
I understand that the pink ribbon is meant to raise awareness and show support, but personally I don’t feel it reflects what families and patients actually go through. I wish there was more attention on recurrence, the emotional impact, and the worry that can stay with you for years.

@Thubrajeng37 I'm so sorry your grandmother and your family had to go through that. 💗 You've raised such an important point about recurrence. I think people sometimes assume that once treatment is over, everything goes back to normal, but the worry doesn't necessarily disappear.
That's what I wish more awareness campaigns would acknowledge. The pink ribbon is a lovely symbol of support, but there's also a much harder reality behind it that deserves to be talked about. People need understanding and reassurance long after the awareness campaigns have ended, not just during October.

I have mixed feelings about all the pink ribbons, to be fair. I think it's lovely that breast cancer gets so much attention in October, and raising awareness and funding is obviously important. But sometimes the campaigns make everything look a bit too cheerful, as though breast cancer is simply a battle you fight, win and then move on from.
There's so much more to it than that. The uncertainty, changes in body image, relationships, the emotional impact of treatment and the fear of recurrence don't necessarily disappear when treatment finishes.
I also wish there was more recognition of people living with metastatic breast cancer. Not everyone has a story that ends with ringing a bell or being declared cancer-free, and their experiences deserve just as much attention.
For me, awareness should mean more than wearing pink or sharing a ribbon online. It should also mean listening to the difficult stories, supporting people beyond October and making space for experiences that don't fit the usual inspirational narrative. 💗

Hi everyone 💗,
Every October, pink ribbons seem to appear everywhere - on social media, in stores, at fundraising events, and across campaigns encouraging people to learn more about breast cancer. (Even wonders of the world glows in Pink)
For some people, seeing all that pink can bring a sense of support, hope, and community.
But when you've actually lived through breast cancer, the experience behind that ribbon can be much more complicated.
It's the appointments and waiting for results. It's treatment and side effects. It's changes to your body and relationships. It's wondering whether the cancer could come back. And for people living with metastatic breast cancer, there may be no clear "after cancer" at all.
So during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we wanted to hear from the people whose voices matter most - those who have actually been affected by it.
💬 Does the pink ribbon tell the whole story of breast cancer?

There is no right way to feel about Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Whether you're going through treatment, living beyond treatment, living with metastatic breast cancer, or supporting someone you love, your experience deserves to be heard.
💗 This October, what would you like people to understand about breast cancer?
With care,
Razar💖
