Hello everyone,

Patients with chronic respiratory diseases such as COPD are part of the population at risk of complications from Coronavirus infection. It's really important to follow recommendations and guidelines published by the government and the NHS in order to best protect ourselfs from infection.

Feel free to consult our two recent articles on the coronavirus and chronic illness for more information:

Coronavirus: What do you need to know?

Coronavirus and chronic illness

I've created this discussion so we can pose any questions or concerns about the current pandemic or just generally share our feelings about what is going on.

Have you consulted the recommendations? Who informed you first: you doctor, your pharmacist, a relative? Have you been taking any particular precautions? Have you been self-isolating? Do you have any advice for others?

Take care,

Courtney

@Courtney_J I've been social distancing to reduce the risk of me and my wife catching it. We both have lung problems (she has asthma, I have COPD), so we have the shopping delivered (when we can get a slot, they've been booked lately) and we limit our outdoor excursions to our garden. I haven't been in touch with my GP, but I expect I can get to him over the phone if needed.

I have moderate copd, I’ve received my letter from NHS to self isolate for 12 weeks, on the other hand my husband has copd only last year he had half his lung removed through non related, he finds it very difficult to climb stairs he hasn’t had a letter to self isolate which I find ridiculous unless they’re running behind? We are both at our wits end it’s a nightmare, which I know we are all going through it. Stay safe everyone x

So sorry your husband is in hospital with coronavirus, it’s awful too that you will be jobless because you’ve only been given 2 weeks holiday, your health comes first I can’t believe you haven’t been sent a letter what is wrong with them you ARE at risk with COPD,.......Stay Safe

Well as we all know this is a killer, and me and my wife are on the list of at risk,i have COPD for a good few years now and it as you know never gets better,my wife has heart problems so she is another worry,we have not been out the house as we are very scared to leave even for food essentials,up to now we have been lucky that one of our grandsons has been to shop for food, but he walks and its a long way,hes a really good lad but i cant ask him to get heavy stuff, and to get a delivery from any of the supermarkets it would be easier to plait fog,so all in all we feel left out from the government, they think deliveries are everyday, well everyday i try and never an opening at all on any of them,we really dont know what else we can do,if we do risk it it is risking my life, and it will take a lot to do that.i hope everyone stays in and stays safe.good luck to all.
