I have an appointment on Tuesday for a PICC line to be put in....before I have chemo on Wednesday....I'm not looking forward to chemo...but I know it has to be...I have read all of the side effects which I'm hoping not to have many....I am also going to try the cold cap....the idea of loosing my hair horrifies me...The information I have received has been informative...im just exhausted with the whole process....and and its not really started yet...

Hi I had a mastectomy on 16th June 2017, 3 1/2 tumour I think I am still in shock the drain came out last Tuesday all been a bit much, but I am slowly coming to terms. The only thing I and my family were shocked about was that I was in day surgery for such a big operation I had my op at 12.00pm and was home by 7pm?? Anyone else had that experience. I was very worried as I had no idea what was happening to me and would have preffered at least one night on a ward. Charlie x

Hi I to had a mastectomy on June 16th. Had op at 1.30pm and came home the same evening. Came home with a drain, which came out on 19th, dressing off on 23rd and back to see consultant 6/7. How are you doing?

Hi, I had chemo from February to early June. Very hard going. Both chemos were stopped as I reacted very badly. Had a mastectomy in June. In hospital for 5 days. Went home with drain and Pico dressing. Radiotherapy 9 weeks later. Information and advice given was excellent. Knew exactly what to expect. Not reacting very well to on going meds. but all is well thankfully.

I am really pleased for you maul lane. Now the thing todo is motto be hadron yourself - give yourself small targets every day and the further you get away from treatment you increase those targets. Don't expect too much of yourself and you need time to relax and rest both physically and mentally.

Thank you Margaret1. I really need to do that and concentrate on my own needs for a while and not everyone else as I have been doing.

That should have said- be kind to yourself! But it is worth repeating as it is so important. Best wishes!

Following my chemo I had as 3 month wait for radiotherapy!! this was 2016, diagnosed with lung cancer in June 2019 I wonder if my condition now is because of the wait to have radiotherapy.

Surgery is an important part of the treatment which can change the course of illness and determine the next steps.
What were your next steps after you had surgery? Were you well-informed before the surgery about the consequencies, the check-ups and the procedures to do afterwards?
Thanks in advance for your stories!
