i have rib pain too and was told it's the radiotherapy they don't tell you all that at the start wkd be better if they did to stop you worrying. Chemo causes joint pain and osteoarthritis as well !

My consultant said that as long as the pain went off hat was ok - if the pain came and stayed - especially at night then that was cause to go back. I've had several x Rays and scans which show. Nothing - but like you said they should give lists of possible side effects and regular bone check ups - otherwise you worry. That is why it is great to talk to other people who have been through it because they know some of the symptoms too!

Hi Margaret I know I call her Debbie demon she creeps in when u least expect it. I try to keep myself busy so with every ache or pain the not thinking what that ?!! B4 breast cancer you wkd never give any ache pain a second thought but everything is heightened. Family and friends think oh it's all over now move on but it's not that easy and the last thing we want to do is be a constant pain in the backside like we're moaning all the time ? Xx

Hi Margaret1 and Foreverhope in a weird way, it has helped me reading how you both have aches and pains after chemo and radiation treatment.  At the start of your treatment you are given a vauge idea of what could happen, the reality is way different.  I have good days and bad days, the bad days are a total nightmare as I feel will I ever get back my life.  Anyone who has not been through chemo and radiation treatment have no idea of what our bodies have been through.  Plus family and friends think that once your done with treatment your better!!

I am constantly getting "you look amazing" or "you don't look ill".  Just because I look ok doesn't mean that I am ok.frown.png

Fighting.   I total agree. People think you look well. You should get on with things. But the fear is always there and the effects of the treatment bring on more fear. You're not going to say to people I'm scared and sad and angry at times. I just say yeah I'm doing good and mostly I am. Time helps and telling your family and friends your fears really helps, also I see a therapist through cancer research and I find it a huge help as the therapist/councillors are cancer survivors and know what we've been through.

I also agree - you feel you can moan on this kind of site because other people have been through the same or worse. I feel if I start telling friends or family- I am single so have no really close family- you feel they are thinking- here she goes again- or worse still - what's really wrong with her?-    But it is what it is- you have to get on with life - support others - and use cancer friends - as support but confidants too!

Hi Margaret1 - family are ok, however sometimes they also have major problems in dealing with what is going on.  I have had a family member almost ignore me during the last year - another has then kinda made what is going on about them!  Like you I have the attitude that it is what is it - put your head down and get on with this.

Hi Niki45 glad to hear you are on your last day of treatment.  I found that the days I didn't drink loads were the days I had dry mouth, there is just so much to try and remember with each treatment.  Hope all has gone well for you

Thanks fighting.  I flew through the radiotherapy. The nurses were so good. I am a bit blistered and red but not too bad. I hope you are keeping well.
