Hi, have had steroids at various stages of my MS, after 20+ years it is now secondary progressive and getting more debilitating.  They have had very positive effects when have had them, by IV and tablet, the latter take a lot longer to work but saves hassle of going to hospital every day! No significant side effects. My opinion is that in the case of a severe dip they work quickly and can be very effective but can cause short term insomnia so get sleeping tabs at same time.

Hi, I am newly diagnosed with primary progressive MS when i was 29 nd ive just turned 30, nd am sorry this has no relevance to this topic but I am just wondering will my MS progress into secondary MS? And at what rate will it happen? Or does it vary from person to person?

Thank you for any help

Nathalie🙂

Only your neurologist can really answer your question. Next time you meet with them make sure you ask them.

I was given steroids - injections + pills - as frequent 'interventions' over many years some years ago. unfortunately I have recently been obliged to have one hip replacement and am on the waiting list for replacement of the other, due to osteoarthritis-related aseptic necrosis which i have been told has developed as a consequence of prolonged steroid use. I was never alerted to the risk of this.

Hello members,

To those living with MS, has anyone else gotten steroid injections to control the effects of the illness? Could you share your experiences, good or bad, with us?

Thanks!
