Hello I have only just got diagnosed after having symptoms for last 5 years. If you have Progressive MS but are not yet on any treatment are you on the shielding list. Thank you

@Kimskin‍ Hello Kimskin, thank you for starting this discussion, I think many MS patients are wondering about this. Let me tag some member to get their perspectives.

Hello members, I hope you're doing well despite these trying circumstances. Are you all shielding? Have you had any information from your GP or the NHS? Do you have any advice for Kimskin?

Hi, I work in a care home and my manager has asked me to not go in to work until further notice. I have rrms possibly secondary now but my GP has said I'm not technically sick so unable to get a sick note and to stick to self distancing rules which is the category I fall in to or to change my job role to make distancing possible. It still isnt possible. I havent recieved a letter telling me to isolate for 12 weeks as I have no problems breathing etc  so not expecting to receive one.

@Courtney_J Hiya Courtney, yes I'm shielding as I have rheumatoid arthritis, had my letter through so home for 12 weeks.

The sun has come out which makes it easier to relax in the garden in the sun.

My employer has also made provisions so I can work from home.  My dad however had MS as is being made to go into work so I'm more worried for him.

Thanks von

I also havent had anything  from the gp, nhs or gov... but my gp has said to go back to them in a couple of weeks if still heard nothing! X

Hi, I can understand not being shielded as there are lots of people with MS in varying stages, but after watching the news and hearing that MS patients were classed as vunerable, I was actually waiting for a letter from my GP / NHS.  I have SPMS after being diagnosed in 1998 and like many I have mobility issues, chronic fatigue, pain, cognative problems to name but a few, and as such I always order my groceries online.  I can't anymore though because of the fit and healthy ordering.  So now i have no choice but to go out on my mobility scooter and to struggle going around the supermarket on my scooter with a basket between my feet on the footplate, struggling to reach into freezers. reaching above 3rd shelf is impossible and causing a huge queue at the checkout because my clumsy hands make packing bags slow......sorry all, rant over ( for now) xx

I have been keeping myself busy - doing my accounts & tax return. I am self employed as a reflexologist & footcare practitioner so am unable to see clients. So I have been phoning clients to cancel appointments & for a blether (chat) as they too are finding they are not getting the same amount of conversation with not being able to see friends & family.

Other things I am enjoying doing while not being allowed to work -

- spending more time with my rabbits (a bit of pet therapy)

- back into learning to play an instrument (oboe)

- baking

Hello all, I really should log in more often, it's wonderful to see so many old and new faces here! I've also been trying to keep busy. I was a bit frustrated as I started water aerobics last autumn to try to keep moving and I'd really been enjoying it since the instructor was understanding of my condition and I could go at my own pace. Now that's been shut down clearly and I've been trying to follow exercise videos on the internet. You all have inspired me, maybe I'll crack open that piano that's been collecting dust in the corner of the sitting room! Take care and stay safe everyone!
